A judgmental review of Man of Steel

Spoiler Alert! don't continue reading if you haven't watched it and don't wanna know what happens in the movie.

I love superman. So i watched Man of Steel. and had a high expectation for it. The producer, director, and the crews, the casts all said lots of amazing stuffs bout their movie. Words like it would be a darker version of superman, and that there wouldn't be a kryptonite, because the kryptonite was found inside one's self, not in form of some certain meteorite.

Blame me if I'm wrong, but I didn't find the movie to be very special. The special effects were great, yeah, of course. But the story, was not heavy at all. It's dark, I admit, but not quite dark. The duration was a little bit too long, I kept asking myself when the movie would end. I wasn't glued to my seat, I talked a lot during the movie with my friend, commenting on every weird thing we found. They were something like this:
  • Lois Lane should made it into history book! She was the very first human being to made contact with aliens in the UFO.
  • Lois Lane should made it into Guinness Book of Record! She fell from a very high place couple times, but never died because Superman was always there to save her.
  • It's stupid how the S (which somehow meant Hope in 'Kryptonese') key wouldn't fit to the capsule just because the angle wasn't right (you'll understand what I'm talking about if you've seen the movie).
  • His dad died just to save a dog. I love dogs, but the movie should had made the adoptive father saved a neighbor or a person rather than a beloved pet. It didn't give you a shocking, heroic, or dramatic moment at all. The father didn't receive the respect he should had had if he saved a person's life.

and many more stupid and non-sensical comments.

So yeah, Man of Steel didn't meet my expectation. However, the movie wasn't bad. It was better than Superman Returns, since we got to see the more human side of Superman. We saw how difficult and conflicting it was for him to choose between human race to his own Krypton race. How in the end he killed the only man who shared the same Krypton connection he had with his own hand. His griefs, his  gloomy childhood, his feelings of being an outcast, and more. He was always different and therefore he never fit in. It's nice to know that Superman is portrayed more as a human than as an alien from the Krypton planet.

All in all, Man of Steel made a strong comeback for our long-lost superhero. A good way to introduce us later to Justice League. All hail DC heroes! :D

PS: I'm disturbed to hear that the marketers of this movie try to align Superman with Jesus. For the love of God, say what?? ==;
