Introducing the self-control project 2017
I ended 2016 with a bang on my bank account. I made by far the biggest purchase on make up by getting a 12-month installment on the Kat Von D Shade+Light Obsession (which I don't regret but still a foolish decision indeed). Not wanting to end up in a big pile of debt and bills to pay, I thought of ways to spend less and save more in 2017. Thus, I created this project on the beginning of 2017 in the hope of saving what's little left in my pocket. I was also inspired by several beauty gurus on YouTube who constantly do project pan and anti-hauls. Before, I was blinded by make-up and was constantly buying new one even when I didn't really need it just because I thought it was cool and right to own many items. In fact, no one ever needs 100++ products in his/her life - I'm included.
As I watched those realistic beauty gurus with their realistic make up collection and goals, I decided to do the same. Hence, I declared 2017 the year of self-control. I have set up several goals and rules on purchasing beauty and fashion items, and though in January I'm still a big spender due to several incomplete purchases in 2016 (pre-order items, mostly), I'm still optimistic that I can make this new, healthier shopping habit a thing this year.
To track and maintain my progress, I prepare a special journal to record my online purchases - I rarely buy make up in the real, physical stores - every month, and I will probably publish my progress each month in this blog, so I can somehow drive you to do similar things. On the bottom of this ambitious project is my fight to win against consumerism and sybarite lifestyle, and I sincerely wish I'll come out victorious. Besides, doing something like this will also enable me to travel even further this year.
In short, this project is also my absolute new year resolution which I'm determined to follow through till the end of the year.
Let's the project begin!
