Where's Next? South Korea, baby!

After years of just watching korean dramas and variety shows on my computer screens, phones, or iPads, I will finally see the country for real!

Airplane's ticket and hostel rooms are secured, but others aren't. At least for now. I'll be visiting in October, in time for fall, and it will be my first ever experience to be in a totally new season other than summer. I'm beyond excited and nervous as well, because I'm not good at handling cold. I don't have any decent warm clothes (not like you need any if you live in a tropical country), nor do I speak Korean (annyeonghaseyo?). But I have a feeling it will be the highlight of this year in my life, and I'm not going to waste time worrying about stuff that might not happen.

Unlike my previous trips, which mainly consisted of 2 or 3 people, this time I'm travelling in a group of 4. The biggest so far. None of us has been to Korea, or well-traveled at all. Nonetheless, we're ready to take on the new challenge. I've jotted down a few potential places to visit and a rough itinerary, but nothing's set on stone yet. We'll spend 5 days in total minus the time spent flying, so it should leave plenty of rooms to roam around Seoul and probably a day in Busan or so.

The next obstacle to pass is obtaining a visa. Some say it's easier than ever to apply for a visa to Korea nowadays, but the chances of being denied a tourist visa are still pretty damn high. From the information I gathered from various online blogs and websites, applying for one can be pretty tricky, and it's easier if you hire an agent to help with the process. It will cost more, but has fairly higher passing rates. Moreover, it's more practical if you reside outside Jakarta. That's why I'm going to do the same thing, hiring an agent, and hopefully I'll be granted a tourist visa or my trip will be doomed.

If any of you random readers here are from Korea, or have been there before, I'm open to any suggestions. I was hoping to find a local to guide us around for a day, even! So, drop some comments, say hi, or anything. Hope to see you soon!
