There's a first to everything: A Beauty Review

Hello guys! I think I've told you how I've started to care about make up and so on.. and I kinda promised you a decent review from a commoner's point of view. Today happened to be that day I fulfilled my promise. I'm about to start giving you a beauty review from my daily work make-up.

What I wear for my daily activities:

  • Ultima II moisturizer
  • Etude House Any Cushion in Natural Beige
  • Ultima II loose powder in Neutral
  • The Body Shop liquid eyeliner in Black
  • Etude House missing you lip balm
  • Etude House kissing lips xoxo Minnie lipstick in red
  • Sleek blush by 3 in Lace
  • Wet n Wild coloricon eyeshadow in Knock on wood
and that's about all. You may notice I don't mention any eyebrow pencils there, and that's because I don't have any. I have bought one from Holika Holika, but the package hasn't arrived even after 1 month! I think I have half accepted the fact that the package is lost somewhere in the delivery. :'(

Moving on. I'm about to reveal to you my overall work look. Ready?

Go!
ps: I'm sorry all of the pictures I took aren't the best in quality.

It's I. It's how I look, more or less, when I go to work. ;)
I really should get an eyebrow pencil or something really soon, right? Cause in the picture, it looks like I didn't have any eyebrows!

Now you've seen the overall look, I'm gonna give you a closer look of my blusher, lips, and eyes, so you know how each product looks like when used by an amateur.

First up, eyes. I'm using wet n wild knock on wood. Wet n Wild is a brand from US, providing affordable cosmetics with good quality. and seriously, I got this cheap. Only IDR 60k for 3 colors, and it's quite satisfying.

Wer n Wild Knock on wood
You know how wet n wild always put letters on their shadows to serve as a guideline as to where to apply the color. They recommend different colors to be put on your browbone, crease and eyelid. You can use it any way you like, but as a starter, use it the way they told you. Especially if you don't know how to begin, like me. FYI, this eyeshadow pallete isn't very pigmented and the brush and sponge they provide are low in quality, so applying can be very tricky and messy. You might wanna use your own eye shadow brush and sponge, instead of using theirs. I, however, decided to use theirs since it's too much of a work to buy another good set of brush that costs a lot. This is how it turns out on my eyes:

"No make up" make up look? lols
If applied lightly, the colors don't pop out, but I learnt that you should use eyeshadow sponge instead of a brush to apply them, so the color wil turn out brighter and nicer.

For a drugstore brand with a relatively low price, I like what I get from wet n wild. If you're new in make-up business, do not throw your money away for some expensive eyeshadows like Urban Decay's Naked series or the kind. It will only be a waste since you won't have the time and occassion to maximize its use.

Next up is cheeks! I really like blusher, and I've eyed sleek's blushers for such a long time. I finally bought 2 sleek's blush by 3, in lace and sweet cheeks, because all the rave reviews they got. And I have my eyes set on sleek's rose gold & sunrise blushers. I'm gonna get it next month. I've never had enough of blushers. I don't know why. Maybe because unlike some people, my cheeks don't have natural blushing colors, and I look pale without some blush. This sleek blush by 3 collection is giving me the chance to explore my cheeks and giving my face a glowy, healthy look.

Sleek blush by 3 in Lace. My favorite.
People, they really are crazily pigmented! be careful with your hand or brush when applying it. You don't wanna look like a ragged doll. Be gentle, and sleek will give you what you want. The color is totally buildable and blendable. It's a total bargain! You get 3 colors in 1 20gr palette, with less than IDR 200k, in such amazing quality too! I love you sleek, I really do.

I use the leftmost color in lace, which is called chantilly. They give a nice warm orange vibe to my cheeks. The color doesn't look apparent here (maybe because of my camera's quality) but in reality, they're really beautiful. Trust me.

Yesterday I tried to use the sweet cheeks palette, and unlike lace, which give you orange and peach colors, sweet cheeks provide a set of cotton candy pink with 1 cream blusher, and I love them just as much! Now for the last part, the lips.

I use Etude House lipstick, from kissing lips xoxo Minnie series. It's a vibrant red color, but since it's a work look, I cannot apply it too casually, or I end up looking too much. so I dab the lipstick lightly on the middle and work it outside, without touching the outer lip and the lip line. then I blend the color to get a light red that will give my lips a warm, subtle color to suit the occasion.

How do I look?
