I, Frankenstein: We have a new guardian angel!

Frankenstein, how horrible it can be? The movie poster looked promising, I thought. 90 minutes stuck watching this movie, I realized that you could never trust a movie poster. Never.

I, Frankenstein, a movie I watched yesterday that told a new legend about the living corpse created by Dr Victor Frankenstein. But different from the urban legend, Adam (the name of the Frankenstein monster we know of) found himself caught in the middle of the ongoing battle of good vs evil, the battle between gargoyles order led by their queen Leonore and demons led by Prince of Darkness, Naberius.

Adam's life had always been on the line, chased constantly for the last 200 years by the demons. Prince Naberius wanted him alive as a vital part of his evil master plan, a plan to create thousand of creatures like him, that would be possessed by the demons which had been trapped in hell. Prince Naberius wanted to unleash hell on earth with his armies. He needed Adam to know the secret of making soulless living corpses. Together with the gargoyle order, Adam tried to put a stop to this evil plan.

The plot of this movie is as predictable as you could get. A movie that has a bit of resemblance to Van Hellsing and Underworld, with all their hideous-looking creatures and good vs evil battles. Though it wasn't bad at all, it is not a movie that will require all your attention to watch. You can leave your seat for 5 minutes and come back without missing anything. I did that yesterday, to be honest. I needed a toilet break, and looking at how the movie went, I knew I could leave and came back still having a good understanding of what was going on.

I, Frankenstein tried to re-brand the Frankenstein, giving it a new image, and taking him out of the bad guys book. The frankenstein we know of has been re-made and re-modeled by Hollywood. He no longer has bolts stuck on his head, he's no longer brown-ish or purplish, no longer an awkward half-human, no longer big and tall. In fact, Adam is very much human even with all the stitches on his face and body. He has the look, as well! In the end, Adam found his higher purpose, to protect us, human race, from evil. Hey, we found a new guardian angel! It's good to know. /pokerface/

Characters and plot wise, this movie doesn't do exceptionally well. It's a regular action movie aiming for the audience who want nothing but fight, CGI, special effects, and heroic scenes. Its 90-mins runtime means that this movie will not be boring, but not enough to give us in-depth character and story development. Like it or hate it? You decide. I think I'm somewhere in the middle.
