Flying with Planes

Another review is here! This time, I'll review the new animation movie from Disney, Planes. The first time I knew Disney was gonna make 'Planes', I was disappointed and underestimated the idea. It was not the most original animation movie, since it was just an imitation of Cars. Nonetheless, I watched it.

Unlike Cars where Lightning McQueen was born racer, and a great one indeed, the hero in Planes doesn't share the same fate. Here we were introduced with a crop duster named Dusty
He wanted to be a racer, against what he was built for, and fought for it. Once he made it into the world championship, he met new friends, and of course new enemy. Throughout the race around the world, Dusty faced many hardships, and must experienced foul plays from his jealous competitor, Ripslinger.

While Planes' storyline is predictable and flat, it's not boring. Throughout the race I was definitely team Dusty, rooting for our crop duster and sympathized when he fell down the sea and malfunctioned badly. Dusty's win is almost given from the very start of the movie, as it is a Disney movie, a place for children to think that good will always win, no matter the costs.

One thing I'm certain of, Disney has delivered its message as clear as the sky, which is that we can be more than what was expected from us. Who said a crop duster can't be a racer? Dusty has proven that impossible is nothing. While the movie itself is meant for children, as an adult I must say I also enjoy it. The animation is smooth, the planes have strong characters, and the plot is just enough to make the audience stay seated for the whole 90-minutes. Children will love it. Adults who enjoy animation films, like I do, will be pleased in an ordinary way. All in all, Planes is not the best animation film of the year. Disney makes a down turn from 'Wreck It Ralph' with this film, and it's only a franchise of the world of Cars, I absolutely have no idea what they were thinking, making this film, other than for business profits. It's a borderline film that will be forgotten easily by general audience, but will probably find its place in children's hearts.
